Roger Dillon Highers, 21, of Harrison, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident Thanksgiving evening. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, LeBron Sliger, and survived by his parents, Tammy Sliger and Robert Highers; grandparents, Eva Joyce and Jim Ganoe; uncles, Mark and Douglas Sliger; stepsister, Amy Highers, stepbrother, Chris Highers; many cousins and close friends. Roger graduated from Ooltewah High School in 2011, attended Chattanooga State Community College, and spent many years both playing and coaching baseball with the Ooltewah Youth Association. Roger was a loyal friend with a big smile that he shared with everyone. A devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Roger was always positive, happy, and upbeat; eager to lend a hand and share a laugh. Roger was a registered organ donor and his family is comforted by knowing that others will benefit from his generous gift. A Memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department Training Center, 9100 Snow Hill Road, Ooltewah, (Old Snow Hill Elementary School).
