Billy Joe Phillips, 76, of Ooltewah, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. He was born March 20, 1937 in Chattanooga to the late Ruby Mae and Leroy Phillips Sr. He courageously served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War Conflict. Mr. Phillips was a longtime member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church. He whole-heartedly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and happily shared with others about Gods unconditional love and salvation. He was proudly employed as a pathologist with Erlanger Medical Center for 25 years. His wife, Nancy Ann Phillips; brother, Leroy Phillips, Jr.; and sister, Thedna Ann Crisp preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Craig Morgan, of Chattanooga; Ray Morgan, of Ringgold; Wendi Taliaferro, Jill Petty and Carol Tinsley of Chattanooga; brother, Jackie Phillips; sisters, Diane Shelton, Alice Stinnett, and Shirley Harmon all of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren, whom he dearly loved; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in the East Brainerd Chapel with Pastor Chris Hayes officiating.
