Oliver Simmons

Oliver Edward Simmons, 81, of East Ridge, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. Mr. Simmons was born and raised in Durbin, W.V. He was a member of Bennett Road Bible Baptist Church, a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a longtime employee of McCallie School as a Security Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Simmons; parents, Marvin and Mona Simmons; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters. Surviving are his children, Ricky Simmons, Karen Harris, John Simmons; daughter-in-law, Sandra Simmons; granddaughter, Kalyn Noelle Harris; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 10, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
