Mitchell Oliver

Mitchell "Mickey" Lynn Oliver, 65, the world lost one of the good ones when he passed Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, in a home he built himself in Harrison. Mickey was many things to many people. A war hero, a jack of all trades, prankster, and a man who enjoyed a good get-together. He was an old soul who was an outdoorsman, philanthropist, an accomplished artist, architect and a dreamer. Born from a farming family, Mickey was the son of the late Henry Newton Jr. and Carol Juanita Oliver. Preceding him in death are his sisters, Rebecca "Teeka" Cooke and Susan Beene; brother, Henry "Sparky" Oliver. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 30 years, Sharon Oliver; sons, Jon and Michael Oliver; daughters, Jessica and Michelle Oliver; daughter-in-law, Angela Me son-in-law, Jon Castleberry; grandchildren, Jared Oliver, Brennen, Mykenna and Ella Wilhoite; sisters. Carol Brown, Pamela Scroggins and Devona Coon; brother, Skip Oliver and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins ax Mends. Graveside service: at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Franklin-Strickland-Pinkard-Bryan-Smith Funeral Home.
