Rodney Lamar Moorer, 44, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in a local hospital. He was formerly employed by Komatsu and was a member of the 704 Ironworker. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Moorer; and brother, Willie J. Moorer. Survivors include his sons, DeKota L. Careathers and Darian Moorer; daughters, Ronisha M. Careathers and Rodisha M. Careathers; grandchildren, Jayden L. Careathers, Kaiden J. Careathers, Kyreese Careathers, Kyashaia Careathers and Kaliyiah Careathers; mother, Smiley M. Moorer; brothers, Jeffery (Karen) Moorer and Gregory (Wiletta) Moorer, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Wanda (Hugh) Abner, of Minter, Ala., Debra Moorer (Rick) Spivey, of Chattanooga, and Shirley Moorer Palmer, of Powder Springs, Ga.; aunts, Lola Mae Wilson and Ivy Crum, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation is today from 6-7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Calvin White as the eulogist. Burial: Highland Memorial Gardens.
