Sylvia Gass

Sylvia Randolph Quinn Gass, 87, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Monday Dec. 9, 2013. Tibby, as she was known to her friends and family, was born in Chattanooga, the daughter of the late Carl Hayden Quinn and Mary Chappell Quinn. She graduated from Girls Preparatory School and was a member of Junior League of Chattanooga, past president of the Junior League Garden Club, served on the board of the Cotton Ball Association and The United Way allocation committee and was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepard Episcopal Church. She is survived by her husband, John Gass III, of Lookout Mountain; daughter, Chappell Gass (Bill) Hardie, of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, John (Debi) Gass IV, of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Daniel Hardie, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Hardie, of Savannah, Ga., Betsy Gass, of Washington, D.C., and John Gass V, of Denver, Colo.. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Church of the Good Shepard on Lookout Mountain, Tenn., with service following at 11 a.m. and burial in Harriet Caldwell Memorial Garden.
