Tommy Uptain

James Thomas "Tommy" Uptain, of Hixson, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. He was 63 years old. Tommy was born in Chattanooga, and was a 1968 graduate of Kirkman High School. He retired from DuPont Corporation with over 40 years of service. Tommy was a longtime member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church where he served on the Hospital Ministry. Tommy is survived by his parents, Wallace and Sally Uptain; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Steve Baggett; children, Kristi Edmondson and husband, Brad, Cody Uptain and Autumn Uptain; grandchildren, Chase Miller and Preston Edmondson; niece, Stephanie Baggett. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. rtoday, Dec. 13, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A memorial service for Tommy will follow at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Randy Bell and Roger L. DeHart officiating. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Tommys name to the Chattanooga Rescue Mission, 1512 S. Holtzclaw Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.
