Fred Gilbert Rorex, 84, of Chattanooga passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 in a local hospital. He was a Master Barber for 55 years and owned Tiftonia Barber Shop. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1950 1952. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clinton Rorex and Alice Chance Rorex; and two brothers, Ed and Joe Rorex. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Melba Peoples Rorex; children, Michael Rorex, of Natchitoches, LA, Sissy (Mark) Mishkel, of Cumming, Ga., J.J. (Starla) Rorex, of Wildwood, Ga., and Tim (Nancy) Rorex, of S. Pittsburg, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Brady and Anthony; one sister, Edna Faye Machen, of Hollywood, Ala. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 17, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
