Frances Jo Walters Penley, 86, died on Monday Dec. 16, 2013, at Hospice of Chattanooga. Mrs. Penley was born in Chattanooga; she was the daughter of the late William Spencer and Nettie Sayre Walters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Eugene Penley, in 1995, and by her brother, Marvin Walters. Mrs. Penley was a graduate of Tyner High School, class of 1945. Earlier in her career, she was a claims processor with Interstate Insurance and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, and being outdoors. Survivors are her daughters, Brenda Orrell, Donna (Larry) Grider, and Kim (Donnie) Porter; grandchildren, Dewayne (Amber) Grider, Kelly Moyer, and Nathan Porter; great-grandson, Ethan Moyer, and a great-granddaughter that is soon to be born, Emma Grider. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
