Margaret E. Vest, 93, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. Margaret was born on May 22, 1920 in Ooltewah, daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Watts. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Seymour, she was a follower of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed bird watching, flowers, pottery and beading and was an avid U.T. football fan and Lady Vols fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip B. Vest; two sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by her son, Philip B. "Chip" Vest Jr., of Seymour; daughter, Sherry Sorge, of Seymour; grandchildren, David Anderson, Steven Spurlin, Shannon Stem, Nicholas Sorge and Victoria Root; great-grandchildren, Jackson Anderson, Emma Anderson, and William Anderson; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Leta Williams, Dorothy Bell, Lorraine McPherson. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home for all of their love and wonderful care. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel officiated by Rev. Bruce Yates. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fort Sanders Sevier Nursing Home Activities Program, 731 Middle Creek Road, Sevierville, TN 37862.
