Donald Derryberry

Donald "Donnie" Henry Derryberry, 65, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. He was born in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late John Henry and Bertha Etta Mae Kilgore Derryberry. He was a lifelong resident of Lookout Mountain where he enjoyed hunting and riding horses. He was the first machinist in Chattanooga to run a C&C machine and was considered the best. He had worked for the Lorain Company, Singer Cobble and retired from Mueller Foundry. He was a member of the Local #56 Machinist Union and a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Powell; and brother, Harry Derryberry. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda "Winkie" Gravitt Derryberry, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; their children, Cheryl (Duane) Cooper, of Chattanooga Valley, Ga., Stacy (Paul) Hannah, of Mountain Cove, Ga., Bryan (Kelli) Derryberry, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; sister, Sylvia (Robert) Stuff, of Rossville; brothers, Ronnie Derryberry, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Freddie (Vonnie) Derryberry, of Flintstone, Ga.; grandchildren, Derik and Dylan Cooper, Makayla and Mason Derryberry, P.J. Mitchell, Lauren Hannah; great-grandchildren, Brody Goins, Harley Young; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-7 p.m. today with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Cecil Gravitt officiating.
