Gordon B. "Jack" Henderson arrived in heaven Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born Oct. 12, 1937, in North Georgia, Jack graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School and trained as an U.S. Army paratrooper. Jack enjoyed several careers: race car driver, contractor, architect and inventor but is most revered as a father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include sons, Chip (Deanne) Henderson and Britt (Cindy) Henderson; grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Rowell, Jason Henderson, Joshua Henderson, Alex Henderson and Zach Henderson; and great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Karson Rowell and special friend Patsy Ray, and several golfing buddies. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Chattanooga and request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to this wonderful organization. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at the funeral home. Friends may visit www.heritagefh.com to view the memorial tribute and share condolences with the family. Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road is in charge of the arrangements.
