Homer Miller

Homer Manuel Miller, 86, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at his residence. A native of Ellijay, Georgia, Mr. Miller was a charter member of Anchor of Hope Baptist Church and was a retired driver from Atlanta Motor Lines. His passions were traveling the country, spending winter months in Florida, fishing, hunting, and his church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Joann Davenport Miller; his parents, Arthur and Georgia Miller; great-granddaughter, Olivia Ashleigh Johnson; seven sisters and one brother. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda (David) Whitaker and Barbara (Randall) Johnson, all of Ringgold; brother, Otis Miller, Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, David Whitaker, Jr., Joey Whitaker, and Rodney (Rebecca) Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Brenna Whitaker, Corbin Johnson and Gavin Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 7 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Brian Haney officiating. Burial will be held Thursday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Ozion Baptist Church Cemetery, Blue Ridge, Georgia. Mr. Miller will lie-in-state from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at Ozion Baptist Church.
