Lamar Swaney, 83, passed away in his home on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather who valued God and family above all. Lamar taught his family about the love of God and salvation through Christ. Lamar is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Betty Anita Mullican Swaney; his loving parents, Dave and Hazel Swaney; brothers, Roy, Dennis, David, Darrell, Bobby, Kenneth Swaney; and one much loved sister, Darlene Crowe. His is survived by his loving family, daughters, Deborah Jean Swaney, Wanda Faye Swaney, Marsha (Paul) Davis, all of Rossville; daughter, Sandra Denise (Steve) Motley, of Kensington, Ga.; and one treasured son, David Lamar Swaney, of Rossville. The joy of his years were his grandchildren, Steven L. (Tiffany) Motley, Ariel Motley, Jake Motley, Aubrey Davis, Gabriel Davis, Sapphira Davis; and four great-grandchildren, Lanie, Channah and Allie Seiber and Kytilyn Elliott; brother, Eddie (Margaret) Swaney; and several nieces and nephews. David Thompson and Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday Dec. 26, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
