George Hipple

George A. Hipple, 87 formerly of Honesdale, PA, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. His widow is the former Georgiana Resseguie. They had been married for 64 years. He was born Aug. 1, 1926 in Towanda, PA., the son of the late George W. and Ida Jackson Hipple. He enlisted in the Navy, after his graduation from Harford Vocational High School, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He was an eye witness to the underwater Atomic Test at the Bikini atoll. He was employed by the Katz Underwear Co. for 36 years prior to his retirement. He was interested in the youth of Honesdale and worked as a coach and later manager for a little league team. George was interested in his church, serving in various ways. His hobbies included golf, fishing, wood turning, and gardening. He was a caring man to family and Friends. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, George M. "Skip" Hipple and wife Judy, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. two grandsons, Brian and wife Julie, of Ringgold, Ga., Stephen and wife Canada, of Rome, Ga.; Great-Grandchildren, Avery Brown and Hannah Hipple; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Hipple; and 4 sisters, Grace Hitchock, Charlotte Frystak, Joy McGinness and Ella Mae Rafferty. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at McFarland United Methodist Church, 101 East Gordon Ave. Rossville, GA 30741, with Rev. Matt Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1 p.m. on Monday. Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date in Indian Orchard Cemetery, Honesdale, PA. Arrangements by W.L.
