Joe L. Marble, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, in a local hospital. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Chorus and directed the Senior Choir. He was also chairman of the Deacon Ministry. He retired from Signal Mountain Cement Co. and later became the owner of Mr. Happys Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Bee Marble; daughter, Terri Marble; sisters, Camilla Price and Annice Marble; brother, Robert Marble. Survivors include his granddaughter, Glynnis Evette (Fredrick) William, of Chicago, Ill.; nephew, Victor Idlette; daughters, Pamela Mathis and Jackie (Oran) Hitchcock, both of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; close relatives, Johnnie Cookie White, Rev. Robert (Lucille) Williams and Evangelist Beulah Stoudmire; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends. The body will lie-in-state today at 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne L. Johnson as the eulogist. Burial: Monday at 10 a.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
