Barney Barnett

Albert Edward "Barney" Barnett, 77, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. He was born in Dalton, Ga., to the late Harvey and Minnie Williams Barnett. He was a former employee of E.T. Barwick, Hammond-Jones Hardware in LaFayette, Battlefield and LaFayette Golf Courses. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and raising cows. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou O'Neal Barnett; their son, Douglas Edward Barnett; great-granddaughter, Rylee Rayne Lowrance; brothers, James and Howard Barnett. He is survived by his children, Alan Randall "Randy" Barnett, Donna Lowrance, Kathy LaDean Phillips, all of Chickamauga, Ga.; brother, Waymon Barnett, of Smyrna, Ga.; sisters, Corine Cooper, of Boston, Mass., Mary Daniels, of Rossville, Ga., Fay Donahue, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Betty Ray, of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Clint Childs, Erica Stone, Brent Barnett, Neal Lowrance; great-grandchildren, Caden Derryberry, Stormy Lowrance, Cooper Edward Childs, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends today from 3-8 p.m. Monday Dec. 30, from Noon until 4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday morning prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in the funeral home chapel with Reverends Paul O'Neal and John Paul Parker officiating.
