Tommie Helton

Mrs. Tommie Jean Whitmire Helton, 83, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Helton was a native and lifetime resident of Gainesville, Ga., was a homemaker and a member of Dewberry Baptist Church #2. She enjoyed being part of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served as a Past Worthy Matron and was currently a member of the Gainesville Chapter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eston and Ona Whitmire; and sisters, Mary Vee Ellis and Ruth Coyle. Mrs. Helton is survived by her husband, Ed "Red" Helton, Gainesville, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in law, Cathy and Danny Deyton, Gainesville, and Connie and Mike Bradley, Orange City, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Pat Helton, LaFayette, Ga.; sister, Frances Whitmire Little, Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild also survive as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Little-Davenport Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Ellis, the Rev. Vernon London and the Rev. Robert Nix officiating.
