Ralph Crosby

Jr.SHAWNEE, Kan. Ralph Lee Crosby Jr., slipped the bonds of earthly life and was reunited, in the presence of God, with his beloved Diane on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.He was born May 18, 1930 in Highland Park, Mich., the oldest child of Ralph Lee Crosby and Courtenay Hill Crosby. He was most recently a resident of Shawnee, Kan.Lee was a veteran of the Korean War, and served in an intelligence and Recon unit, and later as a non-com assigned to the headquarters of the Infantry school at Fort Benning, Ga. He received a letter of commendation and a certificate of achievement for performance of duty.Lee was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, College of Engineering, having attended both the Knoxville and Chattanooga campuses. While in college, he was a member of and served as an officer of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega campus service fraternity, University of Engineers Club, and was elected to Sigma Pi Sigma.A communicant of the Anglican Catholic Church, Lee was active in the church in various cities where he lived as an adult. He served various parishes as a vestryman, three parishes as a Senior Warden, and two missions as a Bishops Warden. At the Diocesan level, he served as a member of the Conistory Court and Council of Advice to two Bishops and two Arch Bishops.His last civic duty was pro-bono service as chairman of the City Planning Commission for the city of Broussard, La.Lee was predeceased by his parents; twin daughters, Sharon and Gayla Crosby; brother John Adam Crosby; and Lees beloved wife, Diane Stratton Crosby. He was also predeceased by his faithful canine companion, a Yorkie named Beau.Survivors include a step-daughter, Terri Neufeld and her husband, Tim; stepson, Mark Stratton Weese and his wife, Laura; daughters, Carol Crosby, and Lisa Greufe and her husband, Randy; and son, Ralph Lee Crosby III. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert W. Crosby and James H. Crosby; and sister, Martina Crosby.A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2013, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd St., Olathe, Kan. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 am. Inurnment is to follow at a later date at Prince of Peace Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kan.Lee requested no flowers, but desired that any contributions that friends might like to make should go to their local Hospice.
