Jim Byrne

ROSSVILLE James Hugh "JIM" Byrne, 68, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born on Feb. 8, 1944 in Rocky Mount, N.C., to the late Matthew Love Byrne, Sr. and Jessie Carroll Byrne. Jim graduated from Rocky Mount High School and Atlantic Christian College with a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. Jim was an avid tennis player and member of the Chattanooga Racquet Club. He retired from the IRS after 26 years of service.Jim was preceded in death by his two brothers, Matthew Love, Jr. and Jesse "JACK" L. Byrne.Survivors include his companion, Patricia Davis, Cleveland, Tenn., and her sons, Travis and Brent; nephew, Jesse L. Byrne, Jr.; niece, Jennifer Ann Byrne; great-niece, Logan Skylar Gillikin, all of N.C.; best friends, John W. Jenkins and Dorothy Garrett, both of Chattanooga; numerous other family and friends.Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.There will be no visitation at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
