ROSSVILLE Virginia Joyce Stamey, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in a local nursing home.She was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Stamey Sr.; a son, James L. Stamey Jr.; and a brother, Ray Casteel.She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Gary) Hughes, Cordova, Tenn.; two brothers, Don and Raymond Casteel, both of Athens, Tenn.; and a sister, Betty Goodner, Fort Oglethorpe; three grandchildren, Jerry Stamey, Betsy Jones, and Holly Winkles; and eight great-grandchildren.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share condolences with the family and view the memorial tribute.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Chattanooga National Cemetery.The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
