Millard Wheeler

Millard Filmore Wheeler, 74, transcended peacefully, from this life Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, while surrounded by family.Millard was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System. He graduated from Howard High School, class of 1958. Millard furthered his education at Tennessee State University, Nashville where he received a bachelors degree, and at Atlanta University, Atlanta, where he earned a master of social work (MSW) degree.Millard was preceded in death by his parents Abbie and Theodore R. Wheeler Sr.; brothers, Theodore R. Wheeler Jr. and Charles F. Wheeler; and niece, Mia E. Johnson.Survivors include two sisters, Minnie W. Darden, of Chattanooga, and Abbie (Bennie) Johnson, of Denver, Colo.; four nieces, Angela Hayes, Kelli Patillo, Lawana Johnson, all of Chattanooga, and Michelle Coleman, of Denver; five nephews, Theodore R. Wheeler Jr., Darryl Wheeler Sr., William Darden III, David Madden, all of Chattanooga, and Mark Johnson of Denver, Colo.; and many extended family and friends.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in the chapel with Minister Charles E. Moore officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service in the chapel.The body will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
