George Watts

ROCKY FACE George Franklin Watts, 88, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Rocky Face, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 in Jacksonville.He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Claire Watts; son, Ronald Franklin Watts; daughter Mary Elizabeth Foster; sisters, Phyllis Colleen Watkins, Della Louise McDade; brothers, Jack Ellis Watts and Horace Lionell Watts.He was born June 4, 1924 in Lenoir City, Tenn., son of Ellis and Grace Foster Watts. George enlisted in the U. S. Navy on Jan. 18, 1941 and retired on Sept. 14, 1960 as a Chief Aviation Machinists Mate. He then attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School in Florida and received his bachelors degree in aeronautical engineering. He then worked for Pan American Airlines in Miami, Fla. before retiring in 1981. George was devoted husband and father and a sincere friend to those who knew him.George is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jean and Joseph Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail Beron, Beatrice and George Streeter, Sally and Don Rains; two grandchildren, Amy Watts and Mindi Bush.A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. George Franklin Watts will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Salem Baptist Church in Ringgold, Ga. with Rev. Mike Teague officiating.Entombment will follow in Salem Baptist Church.Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, Rocky Face, is in charge of arrangements.
