Roberta Figgins

Roberta Frances Figgins, 86, of Ooltewah, passed Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013.A lifelong resident of Ooltewah, she was the daughter of the late Uriah Francis and Fanny Maude Whittenburg Figgins. Her parents died in her early childhood and she was raised by her beloved aunt, Ellen Belle Whittenburg.She was a member of Ooltewah Church of Christ and also taught third grade at East Brainerd Elementary for 39 years. She majored in piano and violin at the University of Chattanooga and was a fine musician. Music was her life and she taught violin at Cadek Conservatory for 26 years. Many of her students became professional violinists and are now teaching and performing in Universities across the country. She performed with the Chattanooga Symphony for 36 years and also with the opera orchestra. She was blessed with a wonderful life and brought much beauty into the world through music.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Minister Leroy Dedmon officiating.Interment will be in Ooltewah Cemetery.Please share your memories at ChattanoogaValleyViewChapel.com.The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. today before the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
