Virginia Dobson

LaFAYETTE Virginia "Sug" Dobson passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at her home after an extended illness. She was 79.She was born on Aug. 26, 1933 in LaFayette to the late Homer and Emma Dobson.She was a 1951 graduate of LaFayette High School and received associates degree in business from McKenzie Business College of Chattanooga. She retired from the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services after 32 years.She was a lifelong member of The Church of God. Where she was the pianist for many years. She was a member of the Senior Adult Ministry, and also enjoyed being part of the Nursing Home Ministry."Sug" was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy, Johnny and Oliver Dobson; sisters, Doris Scoggins and Bernice Brown.Survivors include a brother, Bill (Sammie) Dobson of LaFayette; sister-in-laws, Georgia Dobson, of South Pittsburg, Tenn., and Frances Dobson of LaFayette; several nieces and nephews also survive Virginia. The family would like to thank Dr. Portera, Dr. DePasquale and staff for their kindness and love they gave "Sug".Graveside service at 2 p.m. Thursday. Service conducted by Pastor Jeremy Singletary.Pallbearers are Randy Walker, Johnny Scoggins, Brain Lyles, Donny Brown, James Keith and Terry Dobson.Honorary pallbearers are Malcolm Pickle, Larry Timmons, Tommy Dobson, Matthew Scoggins, Brandon Scoggins and Eric Forrest.Interment in LaFayette Cemetery.Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until 1:40 p.m. Thursday.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
