Betty ColeHatchard

Betty Lucille Cole-Hatchard went home on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the age of 88. Betty was born in Kearney, N.J., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Sandford. She grew up in Ocean Grove, N.J. It is there she met and married the love of her life, Norman Cole-Hatchard. Together they moved to Neptune, N.J. where they raised their three children. They were active members of Hamilton United Methodist Church for many years before moving to Signal Mountain, after Normans retirement. Enjoying their many friends, playing bridge, traveling, entertaining and spending time with family members made retirement a happy time for them. They both were involved in Signal Crest United Methodist Church. Betty especially loved being a member of the Martha Circle. Cooking, sewing and volunteering at the Signal Mountain Library were personal hobbies of hers.She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Cole-Hatchard.She is survived by her brother, Joseph (Lois) Sandford; her sister, Janet (Howard) Smith; three children, Richard (Sandy) Cole-Hatchard, Lynn (Bill) Heck and Jill (Al) Truax; six grandchildren, Monica (Carl) Nordel, Colleen (Michael) Attardi, Andrew (Laura) Heck, Ashley Heck, Cole Truax and Paige Truax; and five great-grandchildren, Lukas and Lily Nordel, Mikey and Nate Attardi and Finn Heck.The family will receive friends at noon today, Feb. 23, 2013, with a Memorial Service following at 2 p.m. at Signal Crest United Methodist Church, Ridgeway Avenue, Signal Mountain, with Dr. Mark Gooden officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Signal Crest United Methodist Church, American Diabetes Association or Alzheimers Association.Condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.hamiltonfuneraloptions.comArrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
