Margueritte Shacklet

teMargueritte Harris Shacklette, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, surrounded by her devoted family.She was a native of Columbia, Ky., and the daughter of the late W.E. "Pete" and Creel Harris.Mrs. Shacklette received her degree in education from Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, Ky., and taught in Hardin County Kentucky schools for several years.She then taught at Woodmore Elementary and Brainerd Junior High School, Chattanooga from 1965-1972. She was a long-time member of Brainerd Baptist Church where she was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmie Lee Shacklette; brothers, Dr. W.E. Harris Jr., George N. Harris and Charles R. Harris, all of Kentucky.She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Tom) Awsumb, Edina, MN, Nancy (Jack) Smith, Soddy-Daisy, Jan (Tom) Burger, of Chattanooga; five grandsons, Jeff (Shannon) Awsumb, Sam Awsumb; Brian Smith, Greg (Natalie) Smith and Eric (Mandy) Burger; one granddaughter, Kristen (Bernardo) Cedano; four great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Sally) Harris, of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Steve Rowland officiating.Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
