Mary Higgenbotham

Mary Emma Higgenbotham, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away at her residence Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.She was preceded in death by her former husband; parents, Clarence Higgenbotham and Jo Anna Woodruff; brother, John T. Higgenbotham.Mary was a faithful, devoted member of Christian Fellowship Cumberland PresbyterianChurch and a mother of the church and choir member. She retired from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute in 1990 after 17 1/2 years of service.Mary was a loving nanny to Mike Daugherty, Tye Daugherty and Teresa Daugherty-Marquez. Many fond memories of Mary are shared by these three. Special thanks to Debbie Sholtz for all of the wonderful care, love and kindness given to Mary and for the friendship that they shared.She is survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, in the chapel with Pastor Eric Jones officiating.The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Chattanooga.Arrangements are entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Franklin-Strickland-Pinkard-Bryan-Smith Funeral Directors 1724 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga.
