Minnie Chappel

Minnie Maude Chappel, 99, passed on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at a local nursing home.She was educated in the public school system in Morgan County, Ga., and received a degree in secretarial science from Zion College. She retired from the Chattanooga city school system after 25 years of service.She was a member of New Emmanuel M.B. Church and the Adah Chapter Number One Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.Survivors include daughters, Cynthia Chapel, Forestine Bryant, Chattanooga, Brenda Jackson, Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Howard (Christy) LeSure, Chappell Craw, Krystain Bryant, all of Chattanooga; brothers, George C. Brown, Bostwick, Ga., William McKinley Brown, Chicago, Ill.; devoted family friend, Patricia Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at New Emmanuel M.B. Church; officiating Pastor Terrance Hanner, eulogist, Pastor Clark Willliams.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
