Iva Jean

Iva Jean Tillery "Jean Ball", 82, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. She passed away at her home in Griffin, Ga. after battling Alzheimer's disease. She was born on May 29, 1930 as Iva Jean Keener and grew up in Palmer, Tenn. Jean was a hair stylist in the Chattanooga area for over 25 years and owned her own business. She retired in 1994. She was preceded in death by daughter, Beverly Totherow; parents, John E. and Leona Keener; sister, Linda Anderson; brother, Russell Keener; and two great-grandchildren, Beverley Williamson and Joseph Collette Jr. She was survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Robert E. Tillery. Other survivors include daughter, June (Von) Franklin; daughter, Stacye (Perry) Hixson; seven grandchildren, Vonzella Ingram, Mistye Collette, Claudia Lavendar, Von Franklin III, Chase Hixson, Logan Hixson & Nolan Hixson. Jean was also survived by 14 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5 until8 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2013, at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421 and graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Lakewood Memory Gardens East at 4621 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.In lieu flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Pat Summitt Foundation for the education, treatment and research of Alzheimer's disease (http://www.patsummitt.org/the_foundation.aspx).Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, is in charge of the arrangements.
