Carl Hodge

Carl J. Hodge, 88, a lifelong resident of Sale Creek entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013.He was retired from Tennessee Paper Mill and had attended Sale Creek Church of God. Carl was presented with numerous medals and awards for his years of service as an Infantryman in WWII. He served with the 28th Regiment in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign.Carl enjoyed working in his garden and doing for others. He was a friend to all he met.He was preceded in death by his parents William and Martha Hodge; his wife of 56 years, Mettie Calbaugh Hodge; 5 brothers, Buck, Ed, Walt, Tom and Coy Hodge; 3 sisters, Mary Francisco, Charlotte (Lottie) Marshall, and Thelma Hodge; granddaughter, April Johnene Hodge.Survivors include his daughters, Nadine (Creed) McKinney, Richmond, Va., Mary (Thomas) Garrison, Dayton, Tenn., Vickie (Johnny) Stout, Graysville, Tenn.; sons, Carl "Bud" (Dotty) Hodge, Sequatchie, Co., Johnny (Donna) Hodge, Graysville, Tenn., Kenneth (Helen) Hodge, and Ricky (Judy) Hodge, both of Sale Creek, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, Tracy McKinney, Karen Tucker, Janet Goins, Theresa Berry, Tommy, Chad, Eric, Travis and Krissy Hodge, Gayla Needham, Kim Walker, Chrystal Vest, Leslie Cartright, Teddy and Jonathan Stout; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; also a special nephew, Jess Hodge and special friend and caregiver, Rowena Gentry.Services: 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald and Rev.
