Danny Vandergriff

J. "Danny" Vandergriff, of Hixson, went home to be with his father on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. He was 62 years old.Danny was born in Hixson, and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a 1967 graduate of Chattanooga City High School. Danny was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, an Eagle Scout and was a recipient of the Order of the Arrow, which recognizes Scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church where he met everyone with a smile, firm handshake or hug. Danny was truly a talented artist.He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Vandergriff.Danny is survived by his mother, Mildred Shipley Vandergriff; siblings, Mel and wife, Angie Vandergriff and Pam Vandergriff; his special cousin, Judy Shipley.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.Services for Danny will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the North Chapel with Pastor Reed Shell, Rev. Paul Longmire and Rev. Edward Snodgrass officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
