Ruth Roop

Ruth Craig Roop, 89 of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the home of her special caregivers, Jeff and Mary Lee of Apison, Tenn. Born April 6, 1923 in Loudon, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Hooker Craig. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd Craig and Elizabeth Fleming. Mrs. Roop was an active, lifelong member of the Baptist Church. Upon retirement from the Florida Department of Transportation in Tallahassee, she moved to Chattanooga in 1995.She is survived by a sister, Martha Craig Russell; nieces, Nellie Mills, Donna Goss, Belinda Howard, Royellen Lamarre, Mary Lee; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 8, at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home in Loudon, Tenn. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Link officiating.
