George Bruning

FLINTSTONE George W. Bruning, 86, departed this life, Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home.He was a longtime resident of Walker County. George served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Southern Tech and a self employed excavation contractor for many years then worked for Walker County as the county engineer. George was involved with the building the countys water treatment plant, landfill, and water wells at Chickamauga.He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Lottie Coggins Bruning; and brother, Frank Edward Bruning.Survivors include his wife of more than 62 years, Bertha Dunaway Bruning; sons, Howard Bruning, Tampa, Fla., and Thomas (Beth) Bruning, Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Will Bruning and Allison Bruning, Franklin; sister, Martha (Jack) Pinion, Flintstone, Ga.; brother, Fred (Faye) Bruning, Kensington, Ga.; sister-in-law, Peggy Tittle Bruning, Rossville; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thanks to Ric Poorbaugh.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
