Mildred Woody

Mildred Elizabeth Woody, 97, went to be with her Lord and waiting loved ones on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, while surrounded by family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga, Tenn., area. Mildred was a charter member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene, where she actively participated in missions, Sunday school and other duties needed to serve her Lord and Savior.She was preceded in death by her husband, George Marvin Woody, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, George, Jr. and Sandra Woody; parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Smith and brother, Norman Smith.Mildred is survived by her sons, C. O. (Pat) Woody, James (Carol) Woody and daughter, Rebecka (Steve) Powell; brother, J. O. Smith; sisters, Sue (David) Chumley and Charlotte Crump; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many loving and caring friends and neighbors.The family would like to say a special "thank you" to everyone who helped with caring for our angel.Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace and one hour before the service at the church Tuesday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 4400 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN with Reverend Mike Campbell officiating.
