Robert James Coulter Sr., 79, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in Leesburg, Va. James was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Buford and Reba Coulter. He graduated from Central High School in 1951 and from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, in 1955. On March 4, 1956, he married the former June Rish in Chattanooga. James enjoyed many life activities, but a few truly were his passion. He was active in Barbershop Quartet and sang in church choir. He was an ordained Deacon and volunteered in the church clothing ministry. His truest passion was that which he had for June, his wife, whom he lovingly dedicated his time to and loved sharing time with his family. James also served in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Artillery stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, before he was released with an Honorable Discharge. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Randolph (Randy) Coulter.James is survived by his wife, June, his son Robert J. (Dawn) Coulter, Jr, of Leesburg, Va.; three grandchildren Ryan (Treasure), Kirsten and Robert III; his sister Marlene (Bill) Knowles, of Chattanooga, a niece, two nephews and three great-grandchildren. A service to celebration his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Andrus officiating.
