Joseph Fryar

, Sr.Joseph Bryan Fryar, Sr., 85 of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1927 in Chattanooga to the late Pleasant Franklin and Emma Laura Fryar.Mr. Fryar was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 37 years of service.His brother, Clyde Fryar preceded him in death.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Vera Fryar; son, Joe B. Fryar, Jr. and his wife Joan of Hixson; daughter, Nancy Hale of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Shirley Fryar, of Lookout Valley; grandchildren, Bryan Fryar III and his wife Jennifer of Chattanooga; Allison Caudle and her husband Darin, of Haymarket, Va.; Emily Alexander and her husband Scott of Chattanooga; Matt Hale and his wife Heather of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Joey IV, Blake, Thomas, Lauren, Peyton, Emma, and Abigail; one brother, Jack Fryar and his wife Ellen of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held Monday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
