James Plott

James H. Plott, 85, of Ooltewah, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at his home.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Plott and Nannie Boyd Plott; and first wife June Scoggins Plott.James was a graduate of Ooltewah High School and attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force specializing in propeller instruction; and a member of the American Legion Post 247. James was also a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge 114 where he served as Worshipful Master and attained the level of 32nd Degree Mason. He was the Past Worthy Patron of Harrison Eastern Star #57.James owned and operated his own business, Plotts Auto Repair Shop for over 50 years. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer. For many years he was the Precinct Chairman over the Ooltewah #1 Precinct for elections.Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Mary Jane Plott; son James Randall (Susan) Plott; daughters Shirley Ann Plott and Debra Plott (Mark) Raulston. Granddaughters Jennifer Raulston and Stephanie Raulston; stepdaughter Shawn (Derrick) Greer; stepgrandson Casey Crook and step granddaughter Marisa Greer.Pallbearers will be James cousins Francis Rogers, Charles Rogers, Jim Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, Steve Rogers and David Dill.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Jones and Rev. James Vaughn officiating.
