Bennett W. Caughran, M.D. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, with his family by his bed-side.He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Phyillis Wyrick Caughran; his parents, Ira and Clarence Caughran Sr.; his brothers, Clarence Jr. and Edward Caughran.He was born and raised in Fayetteville, Tenn., served as a Yeoman in the Navy at Ford Island in Hawaii in 1945 and durning WWII, graduated from Vanderbilt University and Medical School in 1953. He specialized in orthopedic surgery with his practice in Chattanooga until 2000 when he retired. He loved practicing medicine and teaching the many residents at Erlanger Hospital serving on various boards.He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.He is survived by his daughter, Becky Gaynor, of Chattanooga; his son, Philip (Denise) Caughran, of Burbank, Calif.; his son, Fred (Yvonne) Caughran of Cosby, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Chelsea and Kirstie Caughran, of Burbank, Calif., Mallory, Morgan and Dallas Gaynor, of Chattanooga; his #1 son-in-law Mark Gaynor; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at Chattanooga. Funeral Home North at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 26, with Rev.
