Gladys Amos

ROSSVILLE Gladys Lynn Amos, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. She was born in Henegar, Ala., to the late, Lee Roy and Ardell Jones, but had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. She was previously employed with Plain & Fancy Florist as well as Chickamauga Florist for many years and enjoyed yard work and gardening. She loved spending time with her church family, as well as her grandchildren and absolutely loved babies. She was always very caring and nurturing to anyone she met and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Amos, Jr.; son, James Ricky Amos; brother, Ray L. Jones and great granddaughter, Hannah Maria Smith.Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Karen Amos Smith, of Rossville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Gerald Smith, Andrea Bowman, Kristie Shavers and Steven Smith; 7 great grandchildren, Jessica Alexander, Amber Rose, Coty Bowman, Julia Elizabeth Smith, Emily Smith, Morgan Shavers and Chase Smith; and five great great grandchildren, Caylie Harrell, Wesley Rose, Ansleigh Rose, Sophia Bowman and Cameron Alexander.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will begin receiving friends after 5 p.m. today, all day Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements by W.L.
