Margarette Lane

Margarette Elizabeth Mapp Lane, 87, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013, at an area hospital in Atlanta.She was born on July 23, 1925 in Atlanta. She was the first of two children born to Epsy and Ethel Mapp.Margarette resided in Chattanooga and was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church until 1973, when she moved to New York, N.Y.,to marry Israel Lane, who preceded her in death.In 1982 Margarette (know to family as "Madear") came to reside with her son, James in Louisville, Ky., where she remained until 1994, when she move to Atlanta, to live with her granddaughter, Cathy.Margarette entered Jonesboro Nursing Home in December 2008 and resided there until her death.She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, David Mapp; and daughter, Connie Gibson.She is survived by her son, James (Brenda) Strickland; grandchildren, Cathy Shields and Tiffany (Roy) Flippins and Kevin Hughes; beloved niece, Marsha (Joseph) Marinich, of Washington, D.C.; she also leaves behind, eight great-children and one great-great-grandson; a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in the Chapel with Rev. Paul A. McDaniel officiating.Interment in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Arrangements by John P.
