Alvin L. Williams, 75, departed this life on Saturday. June 29, 2013, at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Cleveland, Tenn.He was born on Feb. 3 1938, in Chattanooga. Alvin was one of three children born to James and Marie Williams.He attended Howard High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1956. He received training in maintenance mechanics from Chattanooga State Community College. Alvin earned certification as a Wildlife Resource instructor and he was an avid fisher and hunter. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He also obtained a black belt in karate. Alvin previously owned a photography studio. He retired from Parkridge Hospital and Chattanooga State Technical Community College.Alvin accepted Christ at an early age. He taught Sunday school at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church.He was an ordained Deacon at Vernon Grove Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Freddie Williams and sister, Dorothy Gonzales.He leaves as survivors his loving and devoted wife, Janette Williams; daughters, Cynthia Means, Roschelle Williams-Ware, Tammy (Stephen) Sanders of Chattanooga and Osceola Williams-Tally, of Milwaukie, Wis.; and son, James Rodney Williams, Dallas (Katie) Williams, Chico (Valarie) and Herman Evans and Gary Jones of Chattanooga, Quintel (Renee') Williams of Virginia; Montez Evans, of Conyers, Ga.; and Raheem Williams, of Ohio and an aunt. He had 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.Alvin was an outstanding father and a devoted husband. He was a dear friend and a God-fearing man.Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2013, in the chapel at John P. Franklin. Rev. Keith Jones will be officiating and Rev. Howard Westmoreland is the eulogist.Interment at Chattanooga National Cemetery.Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral begins. Arrangements by John P.
