Clifton Robinson

Clifton DeForest Robinson on Monday, July 1, 2013, God called home one of His angels.He was born April 29, 1937, in Chattanooga to the union of Louise and Jessie Robinson Sr. He was a graduate of Howard High School and a retired employee from the city of Chattanooga. He played baseball with Bunge & Swift League. He was a faithful member of St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Robinson; father, Jesse Robinson Sr.; brothers, Jesse Robinson Jr., Edward Robinson; sisters, Mary Helen Robinson and Anna Louise Barnes.He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Irish Robinson; daughters, Alicia (Vernon) Hewlett; Cliftina (Gerald) Jones, Theresa (Stanley) Dallas; son, Clifton Lovingood, Jr., all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Michael (Mandy) Hewlett, Thaddus Robinson, Nashville; Takesha Jones, Kimberly Jones, Shameka Dallas and Clifton Lovingood III, all of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Asia, Nehemiah, Infinity, Jassiem, Thaddus Jr., Isiah, Raleigh, N.C., MeiOsha, Moriah, Antonyo, Clifton III and McKinlee, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Alice Marie (Fred) Orr, Darrelle Robinson and Terry Jean Robinson, all of Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Eddie Taylor of Sebastopol, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Annette Johnson, Earnestine Robinson; special friends, Perry Taylor, Willie Amos, Myron Robinson and Jeffery Robinson; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.Services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. Elmo Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Church officiating.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
