Mary Helen Guffey Pettyjohn, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013.She was a graduate of Bradley County High School. She was a longtime member of Red Bank Baptist Church and was a preschool teacher at Red Bank Baptist Church Child Development Center. She greatly enjoyed gardening, especially growing beautiful roses.She was preceded in death by her husband, John Guffey; and parents, Arthur and Nelle Creasman.Survivors include her daughters, Gina (Jeffrey) Stafford, of San Diego and Linda (William) Rando, of Hixson; sons, John (Mary) Guffey, of Soddy-Daisy, Michael (Lisa) Guffey, of Hixson and Bill (Hope) Guffey, of Hillsboro, Tenn.; sisters, Kate Goforth, of Hixson, Shirley Whaley, of Cleveland and Sonya Buckner, of Lenoir City, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
