Archie Barfield

, Jr.Archie Barfield, Jr., 71, of Signal Mountain passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home. He was born April 28, 1942 in Macon County, Ga., to the late Earlie and Archie Barfield, Sr.Mr. Barfield was a United States Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. He was retired from Shaw Industries after 20 years of service. He had volunteered for over 30 years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ann Barfield, of Signal Mountain; son, Kevin (Catherine) Barfield; daughter, Susan (Roger) Walia; grandchildren, Ellen Barfield and Landon Walia, all of Atlanta. A memorial service will be held Tuesday July 9, at 2 p.m. in the East Chapel with the Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
