Carlotta Kale

Carlotta "Cotty" S. Kale, 71, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, after battling cancer for more than eight months.Mrs. Kale was a native of Durham, N.C. She was the daughter of Henry C. Satterfield Jr. and Florence Trull Satterfield, both of whom are deceased. Her siblings, Judith Satterfield Strickland, H. Clement Satterfield III and Sarah A. Satterfield, all of whom reside in Hillsborough, N.C., survive her, as do their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Mrs. Kale and her husband moved to Chattanooga in. 1964 when he joined the law firm of Spears, Moore, Rebman & Williams. She attended Duke University and later, when her children were in high school, she attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on. a Brock Scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in English, and a minor in Latin.Mrs. Kale was a longtime member of St, Pauls Episcopal Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross.An avid duplicate bridge player, she enjoyed her many bridge clubs, especially the social ones with her friends and the more competitive ones at the Chattanooga Bridge Center. She was a Silver Life Master.She is survived by her husband, Thomas S. Kale, to whom she was married for 51 years. Also surviving are her children, Thomas S. Kale Jr., of Chattanooga, and William A. Kale II, of Columbia, S.C. and his wife, Wen and their children, Athena and Hans.A memorial service for Mrs. Kale will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Susan Smitherman, Dr. H. Hunter Huckabay, the Rev. and Honorable Sam Payne and the Rev. Ann G. Weeks officiating.
