Jo Cooper

Jo Evelyn Cooper, 74, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, July 11, 2013.She was born May 17, 1939 in McMinn County, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her father, Lake Rowland; and her daughter, Tammy York.She was a member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church and was active in the Missionary Ridge Garden Club, Shepherd Hills Community Club, Strength for the Journey, and the Womens Circle, First Centenary United Methodist Church.One of her greatest joys after retirement was traveling, she and her husband toured all 50 states, every Canadian Provinces, several countries in Europe, Central America, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. They had a trip to Ireland scheduled for July 22, 2013.Survivors include her husband, Billy C. Cooper, of Chattanooga; sisters Sammie Jean Albritton, of Delano, Tenn., and Carolyn (Arlie) Givens, of Chattanooga; brother, Larry (Evelyn) Rowland, of Riceville, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Deborah (Stephen) Lee, of Atlanta; granddaughter, Elizabeth Lee, of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. today, July 14, at First-Centenary United Methodist Church.Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. today at the church with Dr. Steve Byrum and Dr. Doug Fairbanks officiating.Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Riceville, Tenn.Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421, Parkinsons Research Foundation, PO Box 96318, Washington, DC 20090 or the charity of your choice.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, 404 S.
