Jimmie Cox

Jimmie Lee Cox, 74, passed away on Thursday July 11, 2013 at a local hospital. He was retired from D M Stewart; and formerly employed at Kleen A-Matic Cleaners and Ross Mahan. He was a member of New Born Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as head deacon. His hobbies included fishing, traveling and gardening.Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Cox; sons, Charles and Richard Bibbs; parents, J C Cox, Sr. and Ina Cox.Survivors include his children, Luther Bibbs, Lynn (Ronda) Bibbs and Greg (Francena) Bibbs, all of Chattanooga; Mattie (Wayne) Davis, Louise (Larry) Cox, both of Meridian, Miss.; Carolyn (Tony) Miree, Tasha Davis and Amanda Cox, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brother, Harry Lee Cox, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and sister, Juanita (Curtis) Bell, of Iowa; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Community Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Bibbs of New Born Primitive Baptist Church officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
