James Pruiett

Dr. Dr. James S. Pruiett, 68, of Hixson, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at a local hospital.He was born in Concordia, Kan., on March 3, 1945 to the late James Edward and Helen Deiter Pruiett.Dr. Pruiett graduated from Sacramento State College with a BA in 1967 and a MA in psychology in 1968. He then graduated from the University of Georgia with a Ph.D in psychology in 1971.As a psychologist, he was in private practice in Chattanooga for over 30 years. Jim enjoyed fly fishing and sailing.Survivors include his wife, Carol Collins; daughter, Megan Pruiett (Geordie Martinez), of San Francisco, Calif.; sons, Aron Pruiett, of San Francisco, Calif., and Josh Pruiett, of Greenville, N.C.; sister, Ann (Larry) Davis, of Paradise, Calif.; stepdaughter, Kelly (Walter) Crinnion, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; stepson, Brian (Merna) Frye, of Haymarket, Va.; grandchildren, Imogen Martinez, San Francisco, August Martinez, San Francisco, Calif., Kate Crinnion, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; uncle, John (Dolores) Deiter, of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Kay (Mike) Sparks, of Bald Head Island, N.C.; former spouse, Margaret Pruiett, Athens, Ga.; and special friends, Jim, Gary and Tom.A private memorial service will be held at a later date.The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the Michael J.
