HUNTSVILLE Mollie Gifford Scott, 94, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 in Chattanooga, Tenn., surrounded by family. Mollie was born in Huntland, Tenn., to Nathan and Nancy Cooper Gifford on April 30, 1919. She was a retired school teacher from Madison County, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Butler Scott; sons Wayne Butler, Emmett Wendell and Edward Dyer Scott and "adopted son" J. C. (Jay) White.Mollie is survived by her granddaughters, Mallory Packard (Scott) and Brittany Scott (John-Paul Davis), both of Chattanooga, Tenn., Brandi White, of Huntsville, Ala., and Emily Finn (Michael), of Duluth, Ga.; and great-grandson, Connor Lee Scott; daughters-in-law, Debbie Scott, of Chattanooga and Pamela Barratt White, of Huntsville, Ala.; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday July 22, at Maple Hill Cemetery. www.laughlinservice.comIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be in memory of Mollie Scott to the Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Consulate Health Care of Chattanooga for their support of Mollie in her final days.
